About

That Computer Guy's Tech Support Team Hi, I’m Dan Rippon, aka ‘That Computer Guy’, and the man behind this site. How did I end up at “That Computer Guy”? Well, I could’ve called myself “The Surfing Nerd”, as surfing (the ocean variety, not the internet variety) is one of my passions; but I don’t consider myself a nerd, so that wasn’t going to work. I could be a geek, but I hear you can only be “super” at that, and I passed super a long ways back (!)

So “That Computer Guy” it was, and as far as marketing a business goes – it’s catchy isn’t it?

As you may have worked out by now, I’m not your regular IT type. People that work in IT aren’t supposed to be, you know, human? Are they? Aren’t their websites supposed to be full of corporate speak, swirly logos and photos of smiling office workers?

Probably. But you won’t find that here, and if that’s what you’re looking for, sorry – I’m not your guy. In fact, if I ever say to you “Your Business Is Important To Us”, your next service call is on the house. It’s not that your business isn’t important, but come on – do you really buy that stuff? It sounds so damn fake, doesn’t it?

Well, being as this is an About page, I’d better give you a bio:

I’ve been in the IT industry for a little over 10 years, after coming to the realisation that pizza delivery wasn’t going to be such a sound career choice after all. I went back to TAFE to study IT and not long after, I landed my first job, on a help desk in the UK. (Long commute huh?) Since then I’ve worked for companies large & small, supporting anywhere between 3 & 3000 users. I’ve been a team leader and a project manager, have run my own online data backup service, and have fixed, built or maintained more PCs, Servers and Networks than I can remember.

Largely through my own pursuits, I’ve also developed a skill for building websites and marketing them using search engine optimisation techniques and social media, and I now offer these services alongside the already awesome technical support you can expect from me.

So here’s the deal with That Computer Guy’s services – I’m not out to take over the world, and neither am I out to sell you something you don’t need. I’m a great fan of what’s known as “open source” software and internet based “software as a service” applications. If I can provide a solution to your problem using these tools, that’s what I’ll recommend. Oh, and I also back my services with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee too.

If you’d like me to deal with your technology headaches, build you a functional website or get your existing website seen by more people, give me a call on 0410 633980 or use the contact form to send me a mail.

(By the way – the little fella in the photo is my boy, JB. He’s on my support team!)
